£2.1m achieved by Crown Commercial Service in first year with NHS Supply Chain

One year on, the first procurement provider to go live surpasses savings target by £1.5m

Crown Commercial Services has helped to save the NHS more than £2.1m on office products such as stationery

Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has recorded savings of £2.1m following its first year of operations as part of the new operating model for NHS Supply Chain.

A three-year contract was awarded to CCS in October 2017 as the Category Tower Service Provider for Office Solutions.

And the organisation has already surpassed its savings target of £550,000 by £1.5m this year alone.

Office solutions products and services provided include office supplies, (stationery), office furniture, NHS printed stationery, batteries and torches and printable patient identification wristbands.

CCS has a three-year savings target of £4.05m to deliver by 2020. And it is achieving economies through aggregation, reducing cost, using alternative products, and acting on customer feedback.

Jin Sahota, chief executive of the new NHS Supply Chain, said: “The savings delivered by Crown Commercial Service demonstrates the ability of the new operating model to deliver real value back to the NHS.”
