NHS Digital approves roll-out of Docman 10

Move represents one of biggest clinical migration programmes in the history of the NHS

NHS Digital has granted full roll-out approval for Docman 10, a cloud-based software platform designed to meet the challenges of a 21st-century health economy.

Docman 10 is used to manage and workflow inbound clinical correspondence by GP practices and federations, helping primary care to operate more efficiently at scale.

The approval by NHS Digital to roll out Docman 10 follows a rigorous process as part of the GP Systems of Choice (Lot One) framework that centrally funds the provision of GP IT systems in England.

The successful First of Type phase over the past few months has seen a number of GP practices go live with the software and Docman will now begin the national deployment of Docman 10.

With a customer base of nearly 4,000 organisations across England; this represents one of the biggest clinical migration programmes in the history of the NHS.

There has been huge demand in the marketplace for the web-based platform with CCGs, GP practices and federations excited about the opportunity of having all their clinical documents on a single platform.

Docman 10 is accessed entirely through a web browser, providing secure access to clinical correspondence and structured data from anywhere through any device.

Docman 10 will be a real enabler for clinicians and commissioners to deliver The NHS Five Year Forward View and the GP Forward View. The platform supports new models of care such as extended hours, seven-day access and federated working.

Ric Thompson, managing director of Docman, said: “We are really proud to begin the general rollout of Docman 10 to our customer base and network of 200,000 users following approval from NHS Digital.

“Achieving full rollout approval represents a huge amount of work and dedication from all our staff and we are looking forward to delivering Docman 10 to make a real difference to healthcare.

“We have in excess of 1,600 orders already for Docman 10 and it is anticipated that more will follow over the coming months with CCGs keen to get their practices into the deployment roll-out schedule.”
