Humber trust first to deploy CSC Day Care Management solution

Technology covers child and adolescent mental health service and early intervention in psychosis team

Humber NHS Foundation Trust has become the first organisation in the country to deploy CSC’s Day Care Management module, furthering the capabilities of its electronic patient record system, Lorenzo.

The module is servicing teams across the trust’s child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and the early intervention in psychosis team (PSYPHER).

Following the go-live, the trust has already seen the benefits of new access planning functionality with staff now able to automatically schedule multiple group activity sessions and record patient attendances online, replacing lengthy paper-based administration. This is achieved by allowing individual or recurring appointments to be made at both the facility and individual session level.

Lee Rickles, head of innovation at Humber NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Time-consuming tasks such as producing letters per individual appointment and cancelling multiple or selected sessions are now easier to manage, reducing the likelihood of human error and leading to more effective communications with patients.”

In addition, the module is bringing the trust managerial benefits as it allows Humber staff to easily see expected patients and their sessions. Clinicians are automatically booked for sessions, making it easier to report and analyse the use of clinical time.

Rickles said: “We consider ourselves to be a pro-active trust, always looking to improve our services. Being an early adopter of the day care module has allowed us to support and provide valuable input and experience to the development of the product.

“We worked closely with the CSC team, identifying any potential issues early on and resolving these through rigorous testing and consultation. Being able to configure the module to set up each of our individual services was a real benefit to us, as it meant the product served our needs, making us a more efficient and effective provider of mental health services.”

Sheri Thureen, CSC’s general manager for UK and Ireland Healthcare, added: “The deployment of this module represents a move towards supporting Humber’s aim to provide and develop services that are efficient, cost-effective and responsive to the needs of the people who use them.”
