Gleeds wins cost management roles at Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Gleeds appointed by trust to oversee construction work on unplanned care department and A&E reception

Gleeds has been appointed as cost manager for the development of a new unplanned care department and the upgrade of the accident and emergency (A&E) reception for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The project, at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, follows the successful completion of a new clinical decision unit (CDU) and includes the conversion of the hospital’s old CDU into an unplanned treatment facility, as well as the refurbishment of the main A&E reception area. The renovation will increase triage efficiency and provide more-welcoming surroundings for patients.

Both projects will be undertaken in a live environment and Gleeds has been working closely with the trust’s project management team in order to carry out the works as quickly and efficiently as possible. A phased approach to the programme will ensure minimum disruption to patients, visitors and staff and enable patients to be seen by the most-appropriate clinical staff.

Gleeds has previously worked with the trust on a number of ward refurbishments and resilience projects such as the Electrical Infrastructure Strategy, which is currently at feasibility stage.
