Find out how you could be a winner of one of 16 much sought-after prizes
The BBH Awards 2012 has now been launched, with entries invited in 16 categories celebrating the best products, people, premises and processes in the healthcare sector today
Building Better Healthcare is pleased to announce the launch of the 2012 Building Better Healthcare Awards , an annual celebration of the products, premises, people and processes that are helping to set the benchmark for future healthcare delivery in the UK and further afield.
We had a record number of nominations last year and we know the good work is continuing so are looking forward to some lively debate among the judges who will have the tough job of choosing the eventual winners
We have introduced a number of exciting new categories for this year aimed at reflecting the current healthcare sector. These include, for the first time, a ‘Futures Class ’, which will reward healthcare building design concepts put forward by students and professional architects. There will also be an expanded Technology Class recognising innovations that are helping to improve productivity, patient outcomes and the overall patient experience.
In addition, we will, as always, be highlighting the best completed building designs, with awards for Best Specialist Services Design , Best Inpatient Facility , Best Out-of-Hospital Care Facility and Best International Healthcare Design .
In total, there are 16 awards, including, for the second year, the Clinician’s Choice and Patient’s Choice gongs. These will be chosen from entries across all categories, even those that do not make the final shortlist. So there are now more opportunities than ever to scoop one of the coveted prizes.
The sector has continued to deliver some sensational patient-centred products and buildings that are revolutionising the way care is delivered and helping to enhance the patient experience and, most importantly, to improve patient outcomes
Nominations are currently being invited and the shortlist will be announced in the summer. Each entry will be scrutinised by a seven-strong team of judges made up of industry experts and chaired by healthcare commentator, Roy Lilley. The final winners will be revealed at a glitzy ceremony at The Brewery in central London on 7 November 2012.
BBH editor, Jo Makosinski, said: “The healthcare market is a fast-changing one, particularly in light of the current NHS reforms and the economic uncertainty. However, despite these pressures, the sector has continued to deliver some sensational patient-centred products and buildings that are revolutionising the way care is delivered and helping to enhance the patient experience and, most importantly, to improve patient outcomes.
“Once again the BBH Awards aims to single out those projects that set the benchmark for the future of services and we are now seeking entries in all categories. We had a record number of nominations last year and we know the good work is continuing so are looking forward to some lively debate among the judges who will have the tough job of choosing the eventual winners.”
Without innovative ideas and products, technically-advanced buildings, and clever remodelling, the NHS will not be able to meet its targets
Roy Lilley added: “The 2012 awards come at a time when the NHS is under pressure as never before. The challenge off saving £20billion by 2015 and a major structural reorganisation means all parts of the NHS are having to play their part, especially estates and facilities professionals and suppliers of medical devices. A new level of efficiency, innovation and productivity is called for.
“Entering the BBH Awards puts your organisation alongside some of the best healthcare suppliers in the world and the judges and I look forward to deliberating long into the night to decide on the winners.
“Without innovative ideas and products, technically-advanced buildings, and clever remodelling, the NHS will not be able to meet its targets.
